Calamari

Whenever I go home back to my parent’s house I almost always make a request for this: calamari (deep fried squid).

Nope, it’s not me who does the cooking. All I know is that that was fresh squid (and a live one, too! with the body still ‘blinking’) which was cleaned and sliced, mixed in batter (eggs, flour, salt and pepper), then deep fried.

Simple and easy. And oh-so-YUMMY! :D

  7. the freshest squid makes the best calamari. but in my father's hometown, which is near the sea, the freshest squid is made into kilawin.:p

    • my mother usually buys the smaller \’live\’ squids and cook them adobo-like. the big ones we make into calamari. i still have to try grilled squid at home. :)
      thanks, Luna
